“Winter brights is one of the biggest trends for children this season,” explains Kate Liska, director of childrenswear buying at Debenhams.”

Zoe Woolls, Mamas & Papas clothing design manager, outlines the key trends for boys and girls that will have everyone swooning over your child’s style.
:: Kitsch and quirky “A traditional girly trend with twist – think wool tartan mixed with oversized spots,” Woolls says.
“Opt for bubblegum shades like baby pink and parma violet, with magpie-like sparkle.”
Must-haves: Loud prints, oversized beanie hat.
:: Romantic Boho “This girls’ theme has a more casual overtone,” explains Woolls. “It’s inspired by enchanted dreams and surreal faraway places.”
“Go for a muted colour palette with rose pink, minky brown, soft sand and highlights of peacock green.”
Must-haves: Faux fur, slouch boots.
:: Mini Me “This is a theme for the fashion-conscious girl,” Woolls suggests.”
“Think origami pleating and folds with a nod to Japanese design, as well as ballet and dance-inspired jersey pieces.”
“Try a sophisticated palette of grey marl, shades of purple and highlights of jade, combined with beautiful textured prints.”
Must-haves: Tiered dress, ballet pumps.
:: Boys in blue “For a sophisticated boys’ look, smart pieces such as fairisle knits and pinstripe shirts are mixed up with more casual pieces such as block stripe tees and fur-lined sweats,” Woolls reveals.”
“There’s a strong colour palette of grey marl, navy, pale blue with flashes of accent orange.”
Must-haves: Chunky knits, flat cap.
:: Brit brilliance “A trend that is strong throughout boyswear, it’s all about classic heritage with a quirky English twist,” says Woolls.”
“Black cabs, big red buses, the Union Jack, tartan… they’re all true British icons.”
“There’s a rebellious, preppy feel with washed, worn denim and creased shirts in a colour palette of red, white and blue mixed with grey marl.”
Must-haves: Wool tartan checks, distressed denim.
