Made to mimic a real candle, it actually costs more to buy, needs electricity to run and even looks less impressive.

It has been consigned to the dustbin of history along with electric nail files and laser-guided scissors which came second and third in a poll of gadget flops.

The top 20 also includes the bread-maker, the egg slicer and egg boiler plus the back-scratcher.

Some of historys most- trumpeted gadgets, such as the mini-disk player, fondue set and fluff removers, also made the list, which makes grim reading for some of Britains biggest manufacturers.

Bosses at the re-launched SodaStream may not be too happy to find out their drinks-maker found its way to number 15 in the survey of 3,000 people by insurers protectyourbubble.com.

Stephen Ebbett, from the website, said: In the case of the electric candle, it can be just as quick and easy to use the normal version. Some of these might seem like great ideas when you first see them but once you get them home you realise youve no use for them.

We seem to be drawn in when we see a gadget that looks as if it could make our lives easier.

Researchers discovered three in four shoppers have bought gadgets they rarely or never use. and the famous British reserve was in evidence too with under a third saying they took the unwanted purchases back to the shop.

The study also showed shoppers would spend more than 540 each on whims they would never use.

But while it was bad news also for yogurt-makers, back massagers, cocktail shakers, electric carving knives and facial tanners, hi-tech manufacturers were given a lift. The mobile phone was dubbed the best gadget ever followed closely by the iPhone and digital camera.

Mr Ebbett added: Some gadgets have become indispensable but a lot in the survey are more likely to spend their lives sitting at the back of a cupboard. Some are even left in the wrappers.

Cybercrooks Make Business through Stealing Credit Card Details

Cybercrooks Make Business through Stealing Credit Card Details

Bad news for Armin Van Buuren, who is one of the most popular trance music DJs worldwide, about his credit card. Someone has stolen his credit card details.

Ultrascan company, investigating credit card offences and other online crimes, decided to make a research on systems, selling credit card numbers.

It was found out that cybercrooks use ICQ messaging system and have there automated account targeted to sell credit card numbers. Autoprogram, answering several commands, suggests the potential buyers several options: “1. Buy CVV, 2. Checker 3. Account”. Choosing CVV there appear various available credit card details, grouped according to a country.

Ultrascan researcher reported that the biggest amount of details was suggested in US, then comes UK, and many other countries, including the Netherlands. When selected the Netherlands, the autoprogram suggested four cards details and cardholders names. One of them was the name of Armin Van Buuren.

Ultrascan researchers bought DJ’s card details, and the cybercrooks returned his full credit card number, three-number security code and the bank’s name. It was reported that $6 price was stated for card details.Engelsman of Ultrascan assured that usually cybercrooks do not sell card details two times, though there is no 100% confidence that Van Buuren’s credit card details were not used. UItrascan does not normally buy stolen credit card details but did in that case to prevent Van Buuren’s from being used, he said.

Unfortunately Van Buuren’s situation is ordinary. Cybercrime has become a real business for hackers, though computer security tries to prevent it for years.

Panasonic TXP42X20B Review And Rating

Panasonic TXP42X20B Review And Rating

The 42-inch Panasonic TXP42X20B is Panasonic’s latest offering to the mid-size plasma TV market. Panasonic’s X10 line was so popular that this new X20 line doesn’t deviate too much from the standard set. because of these similarities, Panasonic is able to keep its prices on the TX-P42X20B low. It is mid-range in both size and quality, but compared to other televisions in its class, the Panasonic Viera TXP42X20B boasts a definitively budget price.

Style-wise, you won’t find anything too revolutionary from Panasonic’s latest offering. With its trademark black shiny frame and textured cabinet, the Panasonic Viera TX-P42X20B is one in a long line of similar-looking televisions. Still, there’s nothing wrong with it, as Panasonic’s tough, modern, and classy aesthetic is still functional and in high demand. If you’re looking for a TV whose exterior looks drastically different from what you’re used to, go elsewhere, but if that doesn’t concern you, you won’t have any problems with the Panasonic TXP42X20.

despite the familiar nature of the Panasonic TXP42X20’s styling, it boasts some useful picture quality upgrades. new 100Hz Double Scan technology offers the most significant change, reducing screen flicker and creating images easier on the eyes. If you’re tired of greyish blacks, you’ll be pleased with the Panasonic TX-P42X20B, as improved Black Levels deepen black levels beyond what most budget HD ready TVs can handle. the Panasonic Viera’s TXP42X20’s unorthodox 1024×768 screen resolution gives it powerful colour balance, providing accuracy previously only attained on the highest-end plasma televisions.

the Sound Quality section for HD TVs is always a little bit of a downer, and this is no exception. High-pitched sounds for this plasma television are decent, but the lower registers don’t always sound like they should. Compared to other flat screen TVs, the Panasonic TXP42X20B provides above-average sound, exceptional for its budget price. for the best sound performance, however, it’s recommended that you purchase a separate sound system.

The X20 really shines over its X10 counterpart in the realm of extra perks and features. Gamers will enjoy the X20’s new Game Mode, which provides clearer visuals in shadowed areas. With more HDMI inputs, the X20 allows you to connect three high-definition devices at the same time. the X20 provides three HDMI slots, a useful improvement as more and more gaming systems and media players require HDMI support. the Panasonic Viera TXP42X20B has a built-in SD card slot, allowing you to share your home videos and pictures on the big screen. Unfortunately, the Freesat tuner, which allows you to access digital channels without paying monthly subscription fees to BSB or Virgin, is not available. Freesat tuners are exclusive to high end televisions on the market, and the X20’s exceptionally low cost, combined with the impressive HD performance, somewhat mitigate this lack.

If you want a budget TV with mid-range features, the Panasonic Viera TXP42X20 is the perfect option for you. the X20 is a solid option for those interested in one of the best plasma TV values on the market today.

Britain’s Most Useless Gadgets Revealed RealWire2010-9-03

Electric candles have been named the most useless gadget of all time. The flameless candles look just like their traditional counterparts but don’t need to be lit and are powered by batteries or electricity. some even flicker like a real candle. But it seems they haven’t won over the nation, with the device coming top in the poll of most useless gadgets ever created. Second place went to electric nail files, while laser-guided scissors came third.

Stephen Ebbett from gadget insurer Protectyourbubble.com, which carried out the study, said: “Some gadgets might seem like a great idea when you first see them, but often, once you get them home, you soon realise you have no use for them.”

“We seem to be drawn in when we see a gadget which looks like it could make our lives easier, but in reality, they are more likely to spend their lives sitting at the back of a cupboard. some are even left in the wrapper.”

“Sometimes, as is the case with the electric candle, it can be just as quick and easy to go for the normal version instead of a fancy gadget.”

Fourth place in the poll of 3,000 Brits is the breadmaker which allows people to easily bake their own bread. The egg slicer was at number five, followed by the egg boiler and back scratcher. Electric fluff removers, a fondue set and a mini disk player completed the top ten.

Other useless gadgets to feature in the top 20 include the classic Sodastream at number 15, a teasmade at 17 and a foot spa at 19.

The mobile phone was named as the best gadget of all time, closely followed by the iPhone, digital camera, laptop and sat nav.

Researchers also found that three quarters of people have bought a gadget they have rarely or never used, with almost 30 per cent admitting to taking something back to the shop because they thought it was useless. more than half have regretted buying a gadget because once they got it home they realised they had no use for it.

Worryingly, the study also revealed that the average Brit will spend more than £540 on things they will never use over a lifetime.

Stephen Ebbett from Protect your bubble added: “Whilst many gadgets are destined for the back of the cupboard, some like the mobile phone and laptop have become indispensable – so it pays to get them insured.”

iPhone News Never Fail To Excite

iPhone News Never Fail To Excite

Not even three months after its monumental release, Apple’s iphone is making really big news not only in the traditional media but also in the World Wide Web. iphone news have recently become more than just about features of the touchscreen-phone iPod. In fact, a person around the world search for iphone news even before the phone was launched last June.

When the rumors first came out that Steve Jobs’ Apple will be issuing an iPod with call and SMS capabilities, a lot of people have started calling it an iphone. With no official iphone news from Apple, many bloggers and tech enthusiasts have started discussing about the then-to-be-launched iphone. soon, more iphone news was published in the Internet.

Truth be told, when Apple made the iphone available to public that very historic Friday in June, iphone news was indeed big news! Customers lined up for the iphone launch. the earliest was Monday, 4-days before the official launch. iphone news has it that many were excited with the product that combines an iPod, amobile phone, and even a wireless Internet device into one.

Apple Fans Love the Latest iphone News

Until today, Apple has never failed to give the Apple lovers and even those who think the cellphone is just hype with all the iphone news they want. the first week of September saw the release of Apple’s newest iPod models: the clip-on shuffle in new colors, the new fatty iPod Nano, the iPod classic, and the iPod Touch. the announcement proved to bring another Apple sensation in the media and the world. just like iphone news, reports on the newest iPods are taking the world by storm.

However, early iphone adapters are disappointed with Steve Job’s statement that the iPone’s price will go down by almost $200, 3 months after they bought the $599 Apple phone. the change in price came with the release of iPod touch—an iphone without the phone. but 2 days after the announcement during Apple’s the Special Event, Steve Job’s sent out an open letter to the iphone owners that they will be receiving a $100 store credit reward. Now, the iphone owners are more than happy with the rebate after crying foul over the price cut.

Over the past few months of iphone news history, it is easy to note that Apple iphone is not just hype nor hysteria. It can be considered as a breakthrough gadget because it paved the way for many new hi-tech gadgets such as touchscreen phones, touchscreen MP3 players, and of course, the new iPods. http://www.the-iphone.biz

Apple Releases iOS 4.1 For iPhone 3G, 3GS & 4

Have you been struggling with iOS 4 on your iPhone 3G? Your struggle may now be over, as Apple have just released iOS 4.1 for the iPhone, with plenty of bug fixes, as well as some new features too.

What’s new? well there’s quite a few cool features for a minor upgrade.

If you’ve been struggling with over exposed or under exposed photos when taking pictures with your iPhone 4, HDR will help you out and get the best shot possible.

How does it do this? well when you take a photo, it takes three different versions, one under exposed, regularly exposed, and over exposed. then, it actually combines the three photos that it just took to give you the perfect photo! It’s looks like an interesting feature, and should make taking photos a little easier on your phone in the future.

Game Center is also making its debut for iPhone in iOS 4.1. with all the games available on the store right now, it makes sense for Apple to have this feature. it introduces a more social gaming experience, as well as things such as achievements. think of it as Xbox Live for iPhone.

With the iPhone 4 being able to capture HD video content with its rear camera, being able to upload it to the net is a must. up until now this hasn’t been possible, though, with previous versions of iOS. Thankfully, Apple are changing that, and users who capture HD video content with the rear facing camera can now put them straight on to YouTube and other services, too.

With the new TV show rentals option introduced alongside the new Apple TV, users of the iPhone and iPod Touch on iOS 4.1 can now rent TV shows for just 99 cents per episode.
