Out of Sony, Nikon, Canon which company is best in digital technology?

I want to buy digital camera so I want to know which company is better.

In digital technology Canon is the oldest, their sensors are around two stops slower than CCD sensors or the later Cmos sensors offered by Pentax and Nikon.

To give you an idea, last month our club spent a bright warm evening at Rother Valley and we were photographing water boarders across the lake some 100 yards away, the members with Canon's were having to use a shutter speed of 1/60th at f8, the members with Pentax were using 1/250th of a second at f8 which meant we could hand hold our camera's, even my cheap Sigma 70 – 300mm was Image Stabilised as it's built into my camera.

None of the Canon owners managed one clear shot. Total cost of the gear in my hand (a K10D and a second hand Sigma lens bought off eBay for £36.00) was under £500.00.

Pentax is the cheapest high quality system by far, the higher sensitivity puts it head and shoulders above the Canon, the build quality and functions put it above Nikon at entry/mid level.
